Many gardeners prefer to almost mindlessly store flower bulbs in the basement or pantry.
However, you shouldn’t do this, otherwise the planting material will quickly deteriorate.
Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained what exactly you should pay attention to when storing flower bulbs.
According to the expert, it is important to pay attention to several mandatory nuances.
First, carefully inspect the material. Notice any rotten bulbs? Throw them in the trash.
Dry the bulbs outside, after thoroughly cleaning off the soil. Remove old roots and loose skins.
Treat the planting material in a solution of potassium permanganate or fungicides for 20 minutes, then dry the bulbs again.
Place the heads in a dark basement. The ventilation in it must be very good, otherwise the air will stagnate and rotting will begin.
