Powerful pest control from tomato tops: aphids and spider mites will be defeated
During the cultivation of many garden and vegetable plants, “green waste” accumulates.
They can be used to benefit the area. For example, there are several options for tomato tops.
It will come in handy for a variety of occasions. For example, you can make a decoction or infusion from the tops to fight pests.
For the decoction, take 3-4 kg of leaves, stems, side shoots and roots per 10 liters of water. The tops are boiled for 30 minutes. Then the decoction should cool and stand for a couple of hours, infuse.
Then it should be filtered, diluted with water (1:3) and crushed soap should be added (30 g per 10 l).
The infusion is easier to prepare. The leaves are crushed and then filled with warm water for 12-24 hours. Then filtered and diluted with water in equal proportions.
These products are used against a whole range of pests: spider mites, aphids, cruciferous flea beetles, carrot flies, moths, ants, caterpillars, etc.
Only freshly prepared products are used and no more than once a week.
It is not recommended to use the infusion or decoction during the flowering period of crops, as pollinating insects may also die.
In other cases, the pests will be defeated and the harvest will be saved.
