Many gardeners know that caring for orchids is very difficult.
At first glance, the plants require minimal attention.
But to achieve their flowering and active growth, it is necessary to apply special fertilizers. Therefore, it is worth understanding what orange water is, how to prepare and use it, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Orange water is an excellent source of nutrients for orchids due to the high vitamin and mineral content of citrus fruits.
It has amazing properties that promote healthy growth and development of plants, and also stimulate their flowering.
Making orange water at home is easy. You will need the following ingredients:
1. Orange peels. 2-3 oranges should be enough.
2. 500 ml of clean water, ideally distilled.
You need to cut the orange peel into small pieces and place them in a saucepan.
Next, you need to pour water and put it on medium heat. When the water boils, you need to reduce the heat and continue to cook for another 15 minutes.
Finally, wait until it cools and strain the solution through cheesecloth to remove any pieces of peel.
This fertilizer can be used for watering orchids or for spraying their leaves. For watering, add 1-2 tablespoons of orange water to 1 liter of water. The concentration can be increased a little.
Orange water not only fertilizes orchids, but also helps fight pests and diseases thanks to the antimicrobial properties of citrus fruits. However, it is worth remembering that such fertilizer provides a preventive effect.
