What don’t amateur gardeners try to grow when the gardening season ends and winter comes.
Growers don't go into hibernation.
They even try to grow pineapple at home! But how to do it right?
To grow a pineapple, you will need its top. When choosing a fruit, it is important to pay attention to its appearance, a less ripe fruit will take root better.
So, we separate the top from the fruit so that there are still 2-3 cm of peel with pulp. Then we carefully clean out the pulp, it is important that only the shell and core remain, otherwise the top will rot and nothing will grow from it.
Leave the greens to dry for two days, the edge should be covered with a fabric of plant fibers, do not be afraid to leave the pineapple to dry.
To check if the top is ready for planting, check the cut; if it is still wet, then you need to leave it to dry for another day.
The top is dry and ready for use. Take a glass of water and place the pineapple there, the leaves should not touch the water.
It will take about a month for the roots to appear, and when the length reaches 3 cm, you can plant them in the ground.
The peculiarity of soil preparation is that universal soil from the store will not work, you will have to do it yourself.
To do this, you need to purchase soil for orchids and azaleas and mix them in a ratio of 1:2, and you must also put drainage on the bottom of the pot, otherwise the plant will die.
Carefully place the top in the prepared soil and water with warm water. It is important not to move it to another room, but to leave it here for a couple of weeks until the pineapple takes root.
Since pineapple is a tropical plant, it has special requirements. The air temperature should always be within 22-25 degrees, when watering, the water should be 30-35 degrees. The plant should be sprayed daily.
When the plant has taken root, the leaves begin to change, some die, new ones grow, old leaves need to be carefully removed and attention should be paid to caring for the plant.
It is important to remember that pineapple is a heat-loving plant, so it is better to put it on a table, not on a window. You also need to make sure that the plant has 8-10 hours of daylight, that is, in winter you will need to additionally install light lamps.
This decorative plant will not bear fruit, but will delight the eye with its graceful greenery.
