When the ground in the garden is covered with a thin layer of snow, it is imperative to sow beets for the winter.
The favorable time for sowing is from October to November.
Also, you should look at the cherries; if the leaves have already fallen from the trees, then it is a favorable time for sowing beets.
First, choose a place for sowing. The bed can be chosen after clover, legumes, pumpkins and onions.
You shouldn't plant beets after carrots, spinach and cabbage. The soil should be fertilized with dolomite flour or ash before sowing.
Don't forget to remove weeds. Fertilize the beds with humus 3 kg per 1 m2 and phosphates.
Make high beds so that the sides are about 3 cm high. If you do this, the snow will not damage the seeds.
The temperature on the day of sowing should be below 0 degrees, if there is snow, it should be swept away. Plant the seeds at a distance of 20 cm.
Plant dry seeds and do not wet them. After sowing, the beds should be covered with a layer of mulch.
Mix equal parts of rotted compost, soil and sand. Put dry peat and fir branches on top of this layer. And the last layer will be snow.
