Growing carrots can be a challenge for many gardeners because of the need to thin the plants after planting.

However, there is an interesting and simple way to sow carrots that allows you to avoid thinning.

This clever trick using an ordinary plastic bottle will be a real salvation for those who want to grow carrots without unnecessary hassle, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

What materials are needed

To begin, you will need a standard-sized plastic bottle with a lid. It is best to use a bottle with a capacity of half a liter to a liter, as it will be more convenient for work.

You can use other sizes of bottles, based on your comfort. You also need potato starch, it is added in the following ratio: a tablespoon per liter of water.

How to prepare the soil

Special attention should be paid to soil preparation. There is a condition: there should be a drained and fertile base for carrots. Therefore, it is necessary to apply fertilizers and perform other manipulations that will improve the condition of the soil.

How to make a seeding device

Manufacturing method:

  1. You need to cut off the bottom of the bottle.
  2. Make several holes in the lid.

It’s hard to imagine a simpler device; anyone can definitely handle it.

How to perform sowing

In a liter of water you need to dissolve a tablespoon of starch. The seeds are poured into the prepared solution. Next, you need to pour the liquid into a bottle, tightly closing the lid (this can be done with tape).

Sowing is done as follows: you need to gently press on the bottle, as if you were watering a bed. With this method, the seeds will be evenly distributed across the bed.

Of course, thinning may be necessary over time, especially if mistakes were made. The most interesting thing is that this method can be used for planting other small seeds.
