The correct pruning of roses in the summer largely determines how they will bloom in the future.
Therefore, you should never neglect this after the garden roses have finished blooming.
Let's figure out why roses are pruned after flowering and how to do it correctly.
After the flowers have finished blooming, they put all their energy into forming seeds.
And since no one needs these seeds, the plant is just wasting its resources. That is why pruning roses after flowering is mandatory.
The main rule to remember is that pruning is done exclusively above the first true leaf of the plant. It is a leaf with five smaller leaflets.
So, look for the first cinquefoil on the branch with the faded flower and boldly cut off everything that grows before it.
It is also recommended to do sanitary pruning after flowering, that is, get rid of dried, weak and broken shoots.
