It's October, which means it's time to start harvesting pumpkin seeds for planting next year.

However, not every pumpkin is suitable for leaving seeds for sowing.

Let's figure out how to choose the right fruit, thanks to which you can get an excellent harvest next year.

What seeds are suitable for planting

Let's start with the fact that if you want to take seed material from the harvested crop, immediately note this idea if you planted hybrid varieties this year.

The peculiarity of varieties marked F1 and F2 on the packaging is that they will not produce such large fruits next year.

It is advisable to plant the pumpkins that you plan to use for seeds separately from the other plants. It is also recommended to immediately pinch off their vines to obtain no more than 3 quality fruits.

After harvesting, the fruits are kept indoors for about 10 days, after which the seeds are removed and thoroughly dried.

Before planting, the seed material must be treated to prevent the plants from contracting fungal diseases.
