How to Propagate Raspberries: 3 Methods for Different Seasons

The method used to propagate raspberries is determined by the time of year when you want to do it.

It is important to take this fact into account at the stage of preparation for the bush propagation procedure.

For example, in winter, raspberries are propagated by lignified cuttings. By this time, the plant should have shed all its leaves.

Each cutting should have 2-3 buds, and the future cuttings themselves must be stuck into the soil and periodically moistened until planting in the soil.

Young raspberry bushes, connected to the mother bush by a single root system and appearing in the spring, are carefully dug up, leaving a lump of earth, and planted together with it in a new place.

In summer, raspberries are propagated using young green shoots that have not yet become woody.

Cut off cuttings with 2-3 leaves, place in a container with water and root stimulator for 12-18 hours. After that, the cuttings are placed in a mixture of garden soil and peat or immediately planted in a greenhouse.

The cuttings will produce their first roots within a month.
