In order for garlic to grow well, you need to properly prepare the bed for planting it. But how to do this?
Before planting garlic, it is important to improve the quality of the soil, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
To do this, 10 kilograms of organic fertilizer, such as humus, as well as one glass of lime and wood ash should be added to 1 square meter of the garden bed.
In addition, you need to add two tablespoons of potassium sulfate and one of superphosphate.
Then you need to dig up the soil to a depth of about 20 centimeters.
Form the beds
It is best to make beds about 100 cm wide and about 25 cm high.
This way you will ensure good water and air permeability of the soil, as well as ease of care for the plants.
After forming the beds, you need to compact the soil so that it does not settle after planting the garlic.
To do this, water the bed thoroughly several times. If you don't do this, the garlic cloves may sink too deep into the soil and sprout later.
To keep garlic healthy in the soil, try treating it with a copper sulfate solution.
Simply mix 100 g of copper sulfate with 10 liters of water and carefully water the bed with this solution.
The day before planting garlic, select large, healthy cloves from whole heads.
Separate them from the base and treat with a solution of potassium permanganate or phytosporin to prevent diseases. Then dry the cloves in the air or on a radiator.
Follow these recommendations and you will be able to prepare a bed for planting garlic and get a good harvest next season.
