Gooseberry is one of those plants whose fruit quality directly depends on care and nutrition.

Without proper attention, even within one season, the berries on this crop noticeably become smaller and sour.

It is for this reason that gooseberries need constant care and, first of all, proper feeding, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Fertilizers for this berry crop can be used in different ways. However, for many decades now, folk remedies have remained the most popular.

Chicken manure or dung

This fertilizer has been tested by time and thousands of gardeners. It has no equal in effectiveness.

However, its use requires compliance with one very important rule: in no case should manure be used in its pure form. It must be diluted with water and infused.

This solution is introduced into the tree trunk circles at some distance from the base of the stems in a volume of ten liters per bush.

Potato peelings

This fertilizer is also very useful for gooseberries.

It is prepared very simply: first, the potato peel is dried, and then soaked in boiling water (100 g per 1 liter). After infusing for three days in a loosely closed container, it is filtered and diluted with water 1 to 1.

Wood ash

Ash can be used as a fertilizer in two ways:

1. Sprinkle it evenly over the soil in the tree trunk circles and then water generously. Consumption in this case is 500 g per 1 bush.

2. Make an infusion on water in a ratio of 100 g per 1 liter and after 24 hours, in a diluted form (1:10), either apply it under the bushes or apply it from above.

It is very important during fertilizing to ensure that the plants receive all the necessary elements in sufficient quantities, but at the same time, they are in no case overfed.
