Growing Potatoes: Do You Need to Hill Them?

Even novice gardeners know that potato bushes need to be weeded, hilled, loosened and watered in a timely manner.

And everyone tries to strictly adhere to this order.

I would like to share my own experience of growing potatoes, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

This method consists in the absence of hilling and loosening.

The planting pattern for narrow beds is 2525 cm. At the first shoots, when the plant rises above the soil by 5-7 cm, I immediately mulch the soil with dry grass, straw or compost.

First I put the potatoes in the hole, and on top of that I put a handful of pre-mixed "seasoning" (chicken manure, humus and ash). Note: first the potatoes, and on top the "seasoning".

If the summer is very dry, then the potatoes can be watered 2-3 times per season.

When hilling, the plant is oriented towards forcing new roots and shoots, and the previously established tubers do not develop at this time.

On a powerful potato bush, a beard of roots is formed, but very small (like peas) tubers.

Without hilling, the number of tubers is 6-7 pieces, but they are large, and their total weight is about 1 kg per bush. So, imagine how much potato you can grow on your summer cottage.

Earlier in Antalya they decided to check a hotel that charged for the difference in nationality.
