Why you can't blackmail your boss with a fake dismissal

The threat of dismissal is a favorite tactic of many employees who consider themselves indispensable.

They confidently promise their boss that if some request is not met, they will immediately write a letter of resignation. Their goal is clear: banal blackmail.

But the brave ones in most cases are left, as they say, with nothing. In recent years, managers have completely stopped appreciating their subordinates, repeating memorized phrases about queues behind the fence.

Of course, workers are not happy with this arrangement: they want to be appreciated and respected. Alas, even vast experience does not save them, let alone beginners.

What are the consequences of threats of dismissal?

As mentioned above, employers practically devalue employees, so this phrase becomes fatal.

The boss understands that they are trying to blackmail him, so he is ready to get by with a little bloodshed: lose an employee, but not lose his dignity.

Of course, you will have to post vacancies and work in an enhanced mode, but this does not scare true workaholics.

Moreover, they are sure that nothing terrible will happen if the remaining people work overtime. Some will not even be paid for overtime. As for the disgraced blackmailer himself, his life can be drastically ruined. He will be forced to actually quit, and in record time, because otherwise he will be threatened with an article.

A competent boss will be able to find a reason for an internal investigation and other work troubles.

Damaged reputation

Usually such tricks do not go unnoticed: the whole office finds out about it. And if in a particular institution it is not customary to rebel against the director and make claims against him, then the team will easily turn against the newly-minted blackmailer.

Don't be surprised if reports start coming in or surveillance is conducted. As a rule, an offended manager is able to attract subordinates to his side.

They will not only create unbearable working conditions from a psychological point of view, but also force a person to leave if he dreams so much.

Therefore, there is no point in throwing around loud phrases about dismissal, unless, of course, the employee really does not plan to leave in the near future.

This can be stated if a considerable number of questions and comments have accumulated, forcing one to think about a new job. That is, if a person has morally and physically prepared the ground for leaving, then one can say so, but only as a fact.

Threats and blackmail are pointless: these are not the times when such statements were listened to and people were afraid of losing valuable employees.

Unfortunately, in the modern world no one holds anyone back, so a boss can personally put a sheet of paper and a pen in front of a subordinate so that he doesn’t delay but writes a statement right away.

It is terrible to find yourself in such a situation, so entering into open conflict is only permissible if you have escape routes ready.

Earlier I talked about why an employee deliberately provokes a conflict with his superiors.
