VTB CEO Comments on Introduction of Central Bank Countercyclical Premium
VTB has commented on the introduction of a countercyclical premium by the Central Bank.
According to the head of the financial organization, such a decision will affect the bank one way or another, but it is still unknown how.
Andrei Kostin gave this comment to RIA Novosti journalists during the Eastern Economic Forum.
Let us recall that we are talking about the measures of the Russian regulator established at the end of August.
The countercyclical premium will amount to 0.25% of risk-weighted assets from 1 July 2025.
According to the Central Bank, such measures will help maintain the stability of the Russian banking sector and increase balanced growth in lending.
According to Kostin, the Central Bank's decision will inevitably affect VTB's operations. However, it is still unknown how exactly.
As the head of the financial organization noted, everything is fine with the capital in VTB, all the allowances are being made as planned. However, having an additional safety cushion is useful, especially given the period of uncertainty ahead.
