Uzbekistan comments on blocking of Gazprombank UnionPay cards

In Uzbekistan, they spoke out about problems with the operation of UnionPay cards issued by Gazprombank.

The country's Central Bank stressed that the restrictions were imposed from outside.

This statement was made by representatives of the Uzbek regulator, RIA Novosti reports.

It is noted that users began complaining on social networks about the impossibility of withdrawing cash from ATMs over the weekend.

Complaints were received from clients who have UnionPay cards from Gazprombank.

Commenting on this situation, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan assured that it has nothing to do with this situation.

According to the regulator's representatives, the country has not taken any restrictive measures in relation to this payment system and advised to contact UnionPay representatives.

Let us recall that earlier the US imposed sanctions against Gazprombank and six subsidiaries of the financial institution.
