The United States has adopted temporary measures to ease sanctions against a number of Russian banks.

The US Office of Foreign Assets Control has cleared certain transactions with 11 major Russian banks.

Temporary deals with Sberbank, VTB, Alfa-Bank and Sovcombank allow operations related to the extraction and transportation of energy resources to be carried out, RIA Novosti writes.

The concessions also affected subsidiaries of these banks and their controlled structures with a share of more than 50 percent.

The temporary measures apply to operations related to oil, gas, coal, uranium and renewable energy sources.

However, the temporary permit expires on April 30, after which the sanctions could be tightened again.

For now, these relaxations are intended to prevent further increases in energy prices and control inflation.

Experts note that these are temporary concessions. Washington's decision is dictated solely by economic considerations in the energy sector to maintain prices on the market.
