Deputies and Finance Ministry officials are considering abolishing the tax on one category of bank deposits.

This was reported by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, Anatoly Aksakov.

The authorities want to abolish the tax on deposits opened for a period of 3 years or more, reports Rossiyskaya Gazeta .

The Federation Council supports this idea. The Central Bank "treated it with understanding."

The Ministry of Finance is currently opposed, but has accepted the initiative for consideration, Aksakov said.

The department explained that “to take and cancel” is the simplest measure to stimulate long-term deposits.

But it is worth considering all the consequences of such a decision, the Ministry of Finance believes.

Taxes go to the budget and are then allocated for various state needs, so the department is not yet ready for such a decision.

After review, the Ministry of Finance may make its own adjustments and an optimal solution will be found.
