The Russian regulator has issued a new announcement for holders of foreign currency accounts.
The Central Bank has extended restrictions on cash withdrawals.
The corresponding message was published on the official website of the Central Bank .
As noted in the press release, the previously introduced restrictions will remain in effect until March 9, 2025.
The Central Bank explained that they took these measures solely to support the Russian economy in the context of sanctions pressure exerted by the West.
According to the regulator, those citizens who opened a foreign currency account before March 9, 2022, can withdraw no more than 10 thousand (provided that they have not yet used this opportunity).
The remaining funds will be returned in rubles.
As for accounts opened after the above date, refunds are made in rubles at the rate that the bank sets on the day of the deposit refund.
