Senator tells Russians the reason for their small pensions

Senator Olga Epifanova named the reason why pensions are small.

Much depends on the size of the salary. If the salary is not constantly increased, then the pension will be small.

In a conversation with the publication Gazeta.Ru , the Federation Council member recalled that in the Russian Federation the size of a pension depends on the number of points accumulated during one’s working life.

A salary at the minimum wage level (RUB 19,242) gives 1.04 points per year, i.e. just over RUB 135 for a pension. If the salary is RUB 75,000, then this is 4 points (RUB 530).

The maximum point for the year is ten. It can now be earned by those whose salary is 187.5 thousand rubles.

The maximum amount of earnings from which the employer pays insurance contributions increases every year.

Because of this, Russians not only cannot receive the maximum annual points, but also reduce their accrual in the future. Because of this, the size of the expected pension decreases.

For example, in 2023, with a salary of 30 thousand rubles, 1.8 points were credited to a citizen's account. But in 2024, the same salary gives only 1.618 points.

That is, to get 1.8, you need to increase your salary to 34,821 rubles.

In the case of the maximum score, everything is much more serious. For example, in 2023 it was awarded to people with a salary of 159,750 rubles, and in 2024 the required level increased by 27,750 rubles - to 187,500 rubles.

The senator noted that the real incomes of ordinary Russians are not growing at such a rate.
