The Russian Federation found itself under an unprecedented layer of political and economic sanctions, but retained its leadership in the key export direction.

We are talking about natural gas supplies. 2023 was a good year for this direction.

Last year, Russia exported 139 billion cubic meters of “blue” fuel, RIA Novosti reports.

This allowed the country to take first place in the world ranking of natural gas suppliers.

Russia overtook the United States (128 billion cubic meters) and Qatar (127 billion cubic meters), which took second and third places, respectively.

In addition, the country has not only maintained its position in old sales markets, but is also actively developing new export directions.

For example, supplies of “blue” fuel to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline have increased significantly.

At the same time, supplies of the resource to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan began.
