In 2024, Russia entered the ranks of countries that have accumulated the smallest amount of public debt per capita.
Russia ranks third in this ranking, behind only India and Indonesia.
RIA Novosti conducted a study on this topic. The global average is $23,600 of government debt per capita.
India has the least – $1,316. It is the most populous country on the planet, which is only slightly ahead of China in terms of population. Indonesia is in second place – $1,747.
Russia's figure for 2024 is $2076. This figure was obtained based on the results of the first half of the year.
Americans have high debt – $104,500 per capita. Analysts note that this is 80 times higher than the Indian figure.
But even so, the US is not in first place. Singapore has the largest debt in terms of government debt – $149,300. This is almost 72 times more than Russia.
