Russia Bans Import and Transit of Poultry Products from the US
It has become known that Russia has imposed a ban on American products.
We are talking about poultry products that may be contaminated with bird flu.
TASS reported this with reference to an official letter sent by Deputy Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Konstantin Savenkov.
It is noted that American products were transported in transit from the United States to Kazakhstan.
However, now, due to the spread of bird flu in the United States, a ban on both import and transit has been imposed. It comes into effect on July 24.
The embargo may be lifted if the American side provides comprehensive evidence that outbreaks of the bird flu virus have been eliminated.
The ban will not cause a shortage of poultry products on the Russian market. This is because since 2014 the country has had a ban on importing agricultural products from countries that are on the list of unfriendly countries.
It is noted that the United States is also included in this list, therefore, it is not delivered to Russia.
