Ruble exchange rate fluctuations predicted for the coming year
The coming year will be turbulent for the Russian ruble.
The forecast was shared by Anton Tabakh, associate professor of the Faculty of Economics at Moscow State University.
The economist expects that the national currency will face a volatile period, reports Rossiyskaya Gazeta .
Based on current data, the expert predicts the following picture: the ruble, on average, will not differ from current values, but sharp fluctuations will occur at times.
But this forecast is only true if no serious foreign policy events occur.
Meanwhile, sanctions continue to put pressure on the ruble. Tabakh emphasized that they hinder not only Russian exports, but also imports.
As for inflation, the economist believes that it will be difficult for the Central Bank to achieve the target of 4-5%.
The expert believes that achieving such a goal is unlikely in the near future.
As part of the fight against inflation, the Central Bank raised the key rate from 19% to 21% on October 25. It is possible that the indicator will be shifted to 23% already in December.
