New US sanctions package called a "black swan" for the ruble
The new package of anti-Russian sanctions may prove more painful for the ruble.
The restrictions announced on November 21 could hit the national currency harder than the summer sanctions.
This was stated by investment banker Evgeny Kogan, reports Lenta.ru .
The new sanctions affect payments for exports. Even the systemically important Gazprombank has been hit. European countries continued to pay Russia for gas through it.
Kogan called the new sanctions package a “black swan” for the ruble.
The expert explained that the consequences of these sanctions could be a drop in export revenues if alternative options are not found.
The fall in export revenues will weaken the ruble, which is already approaching a historic low.
According to Kogan, in the foreseeable future the dollar will rise to 105 rubles, and the yuan will exceed the 15 ruble mark.
The expert has no doubt that over time these sanctions will stop working, as new payment chains will be built.
