The Moldovan Parliament has declared a state of emergency due to the energy crisis in the country.
The day before, the speaker of parliament, Igor Grosu, announced the introduction of a state of emergency.
The Moldovan government approved the introduction of a state of emergency on Wednesday, RIA Novosti reports.
Grosu stressed that the draft of the corresponding decision was adopted by the votes of 56 deputies.
As a result of the cessation of gas transit through Ukrainian territory, Transnistria may face a humanitarian crisis.
More than 300 thousand Moldovans in Transnistria may lose gas and electricity in the middle of winter.
Moldova could presumably receive electricity from the Moldovan State District Power Plant in Transnistria and the Isaccea high-voltage line.
In the event of an electricity shortage, the authorities will purchase energy from Romania, which itself is facing a shortage.
