Valentina Matvienko believes that debt write-off companies are engaged in fraud.

The Chairperson of the Federation Council proposed to restrict advertising of such companies in Russia.

Matviyenko spoke on this topic at a meeting of the Council for the Development of the Financial Market. The event was broadcast on the Council's VKontakte page.

The speaker of the upper house of parliament spoke about how she evaluates the activities of debt write-off companies.

In her opinion, such companies only “extract money from citizens” for information about existing free mechanisms for reducing the debt burden.

Matvienko believes that such firms do not bring any real benefit, but are engaged in ordinary fraud.

The head of the Federation Council stated that a legislative framework will be developed to restrict advertising of "debt collectors". The work will be carried out jointly with the Bank of Russia.

In 2023, the Central Bank calculated that the median amount of debt of Russian citizens reaches 140 thousand rubles.

Between October 2015 and March 2024, 1.19 million Russians were declared economically insolvent.
