Fraudsters have come up with a new way to steal money using an update to banking applications.

This allows attackers to gain access to users’ personal accounts and withdraw money from their accounts.

The attackers ask the victim to reinstall the banking application using a link, writes RBC .

After this, the fraudsters gain access to your personal account in the banking application.

This way, criminals can withdraw money from clients' accounts.

VTB Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Business Department Nikita Chugunov said that money is stolen through calls to clients to update the banking application.

In September, every tenth call from criminals contained such a request.

The bank advises citizens not to continue the conversation if an unknown person asks to update the application.

Next, you should contact the bank with a request to temporarily block your personal account to prevent possible withdrawal of funds from the account.
