The former head of the anti-corruption department at the Federal Customs Service, Dmitry Muryshov, is suspected of bribery.
The investigation claims that he used the mailbox to receive money from participants in foreign economic activity.
The bribe-taking scheme was developed after Muryshov demanded 700 thousand rubles and 20 thousand dollars every month from two businessmen in 2022, RBC writes.
In exchange, he promised to waive additional checks on their work.
FCS employee Konstantin Kolganov was involved in the scheme.
He accepted money in his mailbox, passed it on to intermediaries. Then the money went to Muryshov.
The corruption scheme was uncovered in 2022 after Kolganov filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies.
A day later, Nesterenko was detained with money intended for Muryshov.
Muryshov was arrested on December 9 and charged with accepting bribes.
