Expert: Türkiye sets conditions for the West on Russian tourists

Türkiye does not plan to introduce restrictions on Russian tourists in order to make concessions to the West.

Ankara has put forward a condition to Brussels in this regard.

Turkey has limited trade with Russia in goods, but does not intend to give in to the West in tourism, RIA Novosti writes, citing Recep Ercin.

A Turkish economic observer explained that Ankara does not want to give in to Brussels in terms of restrictions on tourists from Russia.

He explained that Türkiye had set a condition for the West on this issue.

Türkiye does not expect major changes in the statistics of visits by Russian tourists, despite problems with payments.

The expert said that tourism is not subject to sanctions.

Türkiye therefore insists that the West should not force it to impose restrictions on tourism.

The country expects to receive $60 billion in tourism revenue in 2024 and will not impose restrictions in this area.
