The situation with currency exchange in Istanbul has become known.
Old-style $20 and $50 bills are exchanged at a reduced rate.
This information was shared by a RIA Novosti correspondent who is in Turkey.
It is noted that such measures may be connected with news about the widespread distribution of counterfeit $100 bills.
At the same time, only $20 and $50 bills are accepted at a reduced rate; there are no such problems with $100 bills.
According to the agency's journalist, old banknotes can be exchanged at a rate of 33.5 lira. However, the official dollar exchange rate as of Friday, November 29, is set at 34 lira per dollar.
According to calculations, the bank's commission for exchanging 50 dollars will be at least 25 lira for each transaction.
Exchange office employees do not comment on this situation.
