The American currency responded to Donald Trump's victory with a record growth in the last 8 years.

The US dollar strengthened significantly against other world currencies on Wednesday, November 6.

The dollar index (DXY) gained 1.92% at its peak against a basket of six major world currencies, the Financial Times reports.

The last time the American currency demonstrated such results was in 2016, when Donald Trump first became US president.

The European currency (EUR) has fallen the most against the dollar. The euro is falling amid concerns about Trump's tough economic policy towards the EU.

In Russia, the dollar rose to 98.2 rubles.

Along with the dollar, Bitcoin also set a record, with its value exceeding $75,000 on November 6.

Trump has promised support for digital assets and announced plans to create Bitcoin reserves in the United States.
