Deputy Chairman of the regional government Yevgeny Nikonov was detained in Khabarovsk.
The official was suspected of receiving large sums of bribes.
Nikonov oversaw the region’s social sphere, as well as healthcare, TASS reports.
On the eve of his arrest, the regional governor said that the region’s medical system was one of the most problematic.
Nikonov's arrest took place on the basis of the collected materials.
The volume of incriminating facts significantly exceeds several pages and mentions large sums of money.
Preliminary, we may be talking about bribes worth millions.
According to sources, Nikonov was detained by FSB officers and the Main Directorate for Economic Security and Anti-Corruption.
