Central Bank: Russia's gold reserves have broken a record

Russia continued to increase its gold reserves in the summer, according to Central Bank data.

According to the results of July, the Russian Federation’s reserves reached $179.6 billion. This is a record figure.

The Central Bank's website states that Russia's international reserves grew to $602.05 billion as of August 1.

This is the highest level of reserves since March 2022. At the beginning of July, the figure was at $593.5 billion.

The share of gold in Russian reserves is 29.8%. This is the maximum since January 2000, when the country's international gold assets accounted for 31.2% of the total.

The latest news from the Ministry of Finance has revealed an increase in budget revenues from the sale of oil and gas resources.

In January-July, Russia earned 6.8 trillion rubles from this, which is 61.6% higher than the figures for the same period in 2023.
