Bundesbank chief calls Russia's cooperation proposals a mockery

The head of the German National Bank believes that Russia is mocking Europe.

Bundesbank Chairman Joachim Nagel assessed Moscow's proposal for international cooperation in the financial sector.

The official spoke on this topic following a meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the G20 countries, Bloomberg reports.

Russia was represented at this event by a delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Finance Ivan Chebeskov.

The Russian side stressed the importance of international cooperation. Nagel was outraged by these words.

He called for not forgetting “where it all began.” The head of the Bundesbank noted that Germany faced an economic downturn in the spring of 2022.

He stressed that Berlin knows the reason why this happened.

That is why Nagel is outraged by words about the importance of international cooperation from his Russian colleagues.

The German financier believes that Moscow is mocking Germany and Europe as a whole. In his opinion, such statements are "unacceptable".

Nagel is confident that Europe must find the strength to overcome the “structural problems” that have arisen and return to the growth path that has been formed over the past 25 years.
