The CEO of the Pink Elephant travel agency chain, Aleksan Mkrtchyan, described the situation with prices for accommodation in Russian hotels.

The expert shared his comment with the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RUTI).

Mkrtchyan called the pricing policy of Krasnodar hoteliers a “bacchanalia,” Lenta.ru reports.

According to the expert, this word most accurately describes what is currently happening with hotel prices in Sochi, Anapa, and Gelendzhik.

Here, this season, the cost of accommodation has increased by 40% compared to 2023 prices. This has caused outrage among some tourists and has become a source of discussion on the Internet.

Mkrtchyan cited Crimean hoteliers as an example. Here, prices remained at last year's level, or increased by a maximum of 10%.

The expert emphasized that this can explain the growth in demand for resorts on the Crimean peninsula.

Sochi was previously called a "rich people's resort". For a number of reasons, this city has become popular among wealthy Russians, which has also affected the pricing policy of local businesses.
