Automotive expert warns of consequences of indexation of recycling fee
Expert Igor Morzharetto assessed the decision to index the amount of the recycling fee.
This will inevitably lead to higher prices for cars.
He spoke about this in an interview with the Izvestia publication.
In his opinion, it will not be possible to avoid an increase in car prices as a result of indexation of the recycling fee.
Moreover, he predicts that the increase in the rates of this fee could destroy the automobile market.
As reported, the Ministry of Industry and Trade approved a long-term scale for indexing the recycling fee for cars.
From October 1 of this year, the recycling fee for motor vehicles and trailers will be indexed.
The rate is planned to increase by 70–85% at the initial stage. Subsequently, an adjustment of 10–20% is possible from January 1 of each subsequent year.
Experts believe that with the increase in recycling fees, the cost of basic Chinese cars will increase sharply.
In addition, the increase in recycling fees is associated with a serious risk for the domestic industry.
