In this case, the potatoes may boil over. Therefore, when boiling potatoes, it is better to salt them after the water boils.

Salt can be added after five or seven minutes.

As a result, it will dissolve well, and the potatoes will hold their shape.

When to salt mashed and fried potatoes

The time it takes to add salt depends on how exactly the dish is being prepared.

It is better to salt the potatoes for mashed potatoes when the water boils. It is important not to overdo it with salt, because after that it will be impossible to correct the situation.

If you add salt immediately while frying, the potatoes will become too soft.

Therefore, with this method of preparation, it is better to salt it five minutes before it is ready. French fries can be salted right on the plate.
