Unlike containers with tight lids or cling film, foil allows air to pass through, the Daily Mail article points out.

US biochemist and food safety expert Zachary Cartwright said foil cannot completely isolate food from the outside environment.

In addition, aluminum can react with acidic and salty foods, penetrating into food.

The most dangerous toxins are those that can cause respiratory paralysis and listeriosis.

The scientist advises choosing airtight containers or film for safe storage of food.
