Italian scientist Valter Longo has revealed the secret of a long and happy life.
He believes that it is important to distribute meals correctly throughout the day.
Longo has been studying the effects of diet on life expectancy for years, CNBC Make it writes.
He is the Director of the Milan Laboratory of Longevity and Cancer at the IFOM Institute of Molecular Oncology.
The scientist recommends taking breaks of about 12 hours between meals.
So, if you have breakfast at 8am, then your next meal should be at 8pm. This is similar to intermittent fasting.
However, Longo does not call for giving up food completely.
He says that it is extremely important to maintain a balanced diet with beneficial microelements.
The scientist himself admits that he practices a late but filling dinner when he doesn’t have lunch.
According to Longo, such a balanced diet with long breaks between meals will help you live to 120 years.
He is confident that this is one of the important secrets of longevity.
