Sometimes housewives do not sift flour, considering this step pointless.
However, this opinion is erroneous.
Chef, fourth-category baker, and culinary expert Yulia Arkhipova explained why flour needs to be sifted.
Firstly, this way you can cleanse the flour of foreign impurities.
Previously, this was necessary because pieces of grain could remain in the flour.
Today, flour is quite clean, but sometimes it may still contain various foreign particles.
Sifting will also saturate the flour with oxygen, which will have a positive effect on the state of the baked goods. Thanks to this, it will be airy and soft.
You can sift the flour with a fork or a whisk. Pour it into a large bowl. It is desirable that the flour takes up only half of the bowl.
Then, using circular motions, begin to stir the flour for three minutes.
Moreover, the movements should be intense. This will allow the flour to be saturated with air.
