A Russian oncologist spoke about the differences between turkey and chicken meat in terms of nutritional value.
Dr. Leonid Doronin shared a comment on this topic on his Telegram channel.
The doctor noted that both options are rich in protein. But otherwise, there are significant differences.
For example, skinless turkey breast contains more iron and less cholesterol than the same part of chicken.
Turkey also contains more choline, a substance that has a positive effect on brain health.
As for protein, turkey still contains more of it than chicken.
But the oncologist noted that there is a nuance here too. There is a PDCAAS indicator. It is used to measure protein digestibility.
And chicken has a higher PDCAAS than turkey – 0.93 versus 0.91 points. The maximum value is 1.
To sum it up, the doctor pointed out that turkey is more nutritious. The difference, of course, is not the biggest, but it is there.
Turkey should be included more often in the diet of those who want to maximize their daily protein intake, the doctor concluded.
