At first glance, it seems that choosing a rug for the bedroom is a piece of cake: find the most attractive one in color and shape, and that's it!

But in reality, there are many details to consider if you want the rug to fit perfectly into your bedroom, become part of its design, and be easy to use and maintain.

First, you need to decide what material to choose a rug from. If you need a warm rug that is pleasant to stand on with bare feet after waking up, the best option is a wool rug with a long, soft pile, says Yulia Tychino .

Do you adhere to eco-style in the interior? Then choose a carpet made of jute or cotton. And if it is important to you that the carpet is easy to care for, look for options whose pile is made of easily washable polyester or acrylic. This solution will also be good if there are allergy sufferers in the house, but in such cases, you should refuse carpets made of real wool.

The next parameter is color. You can choose the color of the carpet to match the color of the bedspread, the color of the curtains or the floor.

By the way, a correctly chosen carpet shade will help to hide unevenness of the floor covering: it is enough to buy a rug "in the same tone" as the parquet or linoleum.

The carpet can also act as an accent on the floor, then it is worth choosing a model that is different in color from the general range, but not too striking. The carpet pattern can also match the pattern on the wallpaper or prints on the bed linen.

If you want the carpet to create a certain mood, choose a certain color. Beige and blue colors are calming, pink will add romance to the bedroom, a green carpet will make it fresher and closer to nature.

The third point is the size of the carpet for the bedroom. If the bedroom is large, then the carpet can be chosen large, covering the entire surface of the floor, and the bed is allowed to be placed directly on it.

Narrow and long rugs look good in narrow bedrooms, but laid as if "across" the bed. For small bedrooms, it is best to choose small oval rugs.

And point number four is the correct placement of the carpet. If you lay a long and narrow carpet under the bed so that part of the product peeks out from under it, as recommended in the case of narrow, elongated bedrooms, this will visually expand the space.

An interesting solution is when the bed stands on the rug with only one leg, leaving the rest of it free. This is appropriate if the rug is small and oval or round.

If the bedroom is small and you are afraid that a large carpet will "eat up" all the free space, and the bed in the room is in the middle, you can get by with two small floor rugs, placing them on different sides of the sleeping area.

It is worth remembering that the bedroom requires clean air. Therefore, after purchasing and correctly placing the bedroom carpet in the room, it will be necessary to treat it with a substance with an antistatic effect.

Thanks to this, noticeably less dust will “stick” to the surface of the carpet.

For reference

A carpet is a dense woven product made from various types of yarn (or a synthetic imitation of it), used to cover floors and sometimes other surfaces in a room for decorative, insulating, ritual or acoustic purposes.
