Living room and children's room in one room: layout features - what to consider

26.08.2024 01:40

Considering that in small apartments it is not possible to allocate a separate room for each family member, it is necessary to combine two rooms in one.

Typically, this is a children's room and a living room.

And how to combine them correctly so that all family members feel comfortable, you will now find out, says Yulia Tychino .

Layout features

First of all, we start with zoning. It is recommended to place the children's area near the window. If we are talking about a large room, then it can be delimited using a partition.

Transparent structures will be an excellent option in this case, as they will not shade the room. It is not recommended to divide small rooms.

For zoning, in addition to partitions, you can use sliding structures, arches, upholstered furniture, screens, ceilings of different levels and floor coverings of different colors and textures. But the best way is a podium.

This is not a cheap pleasure, but it has several significant advantages: with its help you can not only delimit the room, but also save a lot of free space. After all, under the podium you can place a bed and a storage system (cabinets).

Features of interior design

Before you start arranging the interior, you need to carefully consider the amount of furniture and decor in the interior. The less of them, the better. You should also avoid thick curtains.

It is best to replace them with curtains made of light-colored fabrics or hang blinds.

If we are talking about arranging a small room, then you can save precious centimeters by enlarging the window sill, which can replace a work desk.

If the nursery is intended for a newborn, then instead of a changing table you can use a low cabinet or chest of drawers - they are more practical and functional. If the dimensions of the room allow, then you can also install a changing table.

For older children, you should choose modular furniture that includes a sleeping area, a desk and a storage system.

Preferred colors: blue, green, orange and yellow.

Selecting finishing materials

For wall finishing we choose paper or non-woven wallpaper. For floor finishing - laminate or natural wood, as these finishing materials do not require special care.
