Creating a light and spacious interior is a dream of many. Such design visually expands the space, creates a feeling of lightness and airiness.

To achieve the desired effect, it is worth following a few simple tips.

Firstly, the colour scheme plays a key role. Pastel colours are best suited for a light interior - beige, peach, soft blue, light green, says Yulia Tychino .

You can use white, but don't overdo it, so that the interior doesn't look sterile. Dark, saturated colors are best left for accent details.

Secondly, when choosing furniture and finishing materials, give preference to light natural textures - wood, rattan, cotton, linen.

Avoid fabrics and wallpapers with small patterns; it is better to choose plain colors or those with large prints.

Thirdly, place the accents correctly. Bright and saturated colors can be used in decor, but in doses. Let it be pillows, vases, paintings or decorative items.

Contrasting combinations will also help to accentuate attention - for example, black or dark wooden furniture against a background of light walls.

The main thing in a light interior is to maintain balance and not to overdo it with either the main tone or bright accents. Then the space will look harmonious and elegant.

How to achieve a feeling of spaciousness and lightness in the interior? First, try to avoid partitions. If the layout allows, combine the kitchen and living room into one space. A spectacular solution would be a kitchen-studio without walls, separated from the living room only by a kitchen island.

Secondly, use furniture on legs without a closed base. This will visually raise the objects above the floor and add lightness. The same applies to tables, cabinets, chests of drawers. Transparent furniture made of glass or acrylic plastic will help to visually expand the space.

Thirdly, work with light correctly. Abundance of natural light, large windows from floor to ceiling create a feeling of spaciousness and air. Additional light sources - chandeliers, sconces, floor lamps - also visually expand the room.

Fourth, choose your decor and textiles wisely. It is better to replace heavy curtains with light tulle or use Roman blinds. Avoid thick pile carpets. Instead, use rugs or carpets made of natural fibers. Avoid an abundance of small decorative items; it is better to choose several large accents.

Following these tips, you can visually enlarge any small room and make it truly light and airy. The main thing is not to overdo it and to maintain a sense of proportion in the design.

When creating a light interior, it is important to work correctly with finishing materials.

Light tones are best for walls - white, beige, gray, soft blue. You can use wallpaper, but it is better to give preference to more practical vinyl film or paint. Decorative plasters and "concrete" coatings look great.

For the floor, give preference to a light wide board made of oak or birch. Parquet board and laminate also look good. Avoid dark parquet - it visually "weights down" the space. Light porcelain stoneware will be an excellent solution.

It is better to leave the ceilings white - this will visually lift the space. You can use stretch ceilings, choosing light monochromatic options. Avoid dark tones and glossy surfaces that will reflect light.

As for lighting, place narrow directional lamps along the walls, and for general lighting use several chandeliers or ceiling lamps with diffused light.

The main thing when working with finishing materials is to adhere to a single style, not to get carried away with contrasts and to correctly place accents. Then the interior will turn out harmonious and light.
