How to choose wallpaper for the living room: designer's advice

You will also have to consider the color of the wallpaper. You need to choose a color based on the parameters of the room. For example, if the living room is small, then light pastel shades will suit here: beige, mint, soft pink.
If the room is spacious, then it is permissible to use dark shades; the tones can be bright and saturated.
For rooms with windows facing north, it is worth choosing warm shades of wallpaper: peach, yellow, pink. For the south side, it is better to choose cold colors: lilac, light green, silver.
When choosing silver-pearl or gold-colored wallpaper, a festive atmosphere will reign in the hall.
However, you shouldn't overdo it with these colors, otherwise it will bring a "gypsy" element to the interior. It is better to combine such wallpaper with other color solutions.
Wallpaper design is also important in the room design. Wallpaper with vertical stripes will visually stretch a room with low ceilings, and horizontal stripes will expand a narrow "trailer".
Wallpaper with geometric patterns looks stylish, but it will also tire your eyes. When choosing such wallpaper, you need to look at the roll for a minute. If it will dazzle your eyes, then it is better to refuse such a pattern.

Professionals distinguish between paper, vinyl, non-woven, fabric, bamboo and glass wallpaper.

This is an inexpensive type of wallpaper. They are environmentally friendly. But these wallpapers are short-lived and quickly lose color when exposed to direct sunlight. The wallpaper is thin, the canvas often tears during pasting. They are pasted on a flat wall.
- vinyl;
They are more durable than paper wallpaper. They perfectly cover wall defects. This covering can be wiped and washed. They are presented in a wide range of colors. But the wallpaper is not "breathing". Only perforated vinyl wallpaper will let air through.
- non-woven;
These wallpapers are dense, not afraid of ultraviolet rays and moisture. They can be repainted several times, while creating new interesting solutions in the interior.
- fabric;
Paper and textile or non-woven fabric are used for production. The top layer is made of velour, silk, linen or other dense fabrics. These wallpapers create an aristocratic and at the same time cozy atmosphere in the room. But they are capricious in care. The material is contraindicated to wash, and dust accumulates on them quickly.
- bamboo.
This is environmentally friendly beauty in the apartment. They look exquisite and rich in every interior. Direct sunlight does not bother them, and they are not afraid of moisture either. The wallpaper is unpretentious in care: 1-2 times a year they are cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, and stronger dirt is wiped with a damp cloth. However, there is no need to paste them over the entire room, it is enough to decorate one zone.

This is a durable and practical material. These wallpapers are made of glass fiber. They are moisture-resistant and fire-resistant. You can experiment with painting up to 20 times.
