Some people are afraid to decorate the kitchen with wallpaper, believing that it is not practical. In fact, this is not true.
You just need to follow a few rules for choosing the coating and preparing the walls.
Then the desired wallpaper will add variety to your interior, and the kitchen will look more interesting, cozy and stylish, says Yulia Tychino .
By following the recommendations below, you can plan wallpapering your kitchen without any worries.
Before applying wallpaper to the wall, it must be carefully prepared and leveled. Otherwise, failure to comply with this rule threatens you with the wallpaper peeling off soon and the appearance of bubbles on the surface. And the material itself will initially lie unevenly and sloppily.
The wallpaper you choose should have the following properties:
• moisture resistance: if the wallpaper you choose does not meet this requirement, then, unfortunately, it will not last long, because there is moisture and steam in the kitchen when cooking. And you will still have to wipe the surface from time to time, so they should not be damaged by this action. As a result, it is better to choose washable wallpaper for the kitchen;
• vapor permeability: without this property, the walls under the wallpaper will become damp, condensation will form, and as a result, the wallpaper will simply deteriorate;
• high density: thin paper wallpaper will not last long in the kitchen, so you need to choose the densest ones, which are much stronger. We should also note that for the kitchen it is better to choose less textured wallpaper so that dirt does not accumulate in cracks and recesses;
• resistance to fading: another important criterion, because if the wallpaper fades, it will lose its brightness and beauty.
The following types of wallpaper generally meet all these properties:
• vinyl and non-woven: they can be washed and cleaned, they are affordable, have a wide range, are practical and durable, do not fade, and in most cases are treated with antifungal agents;
• glass wallpaper: one of the most durable materials, long-lasting, resistant to everything, can be painted over, but is a more expensive finishing option.
If you choose the right wallpaper for your kitchen, it will delight your eyes with its beauty for a long time.
In addition, it is not necessary to decorate the entire kitchen with this material, but you can focus on a specific wall.
As for the color scheme, the kitchen design should correspond to the concept of the entire living space. But you should not use too dark shades in the design.
Yellow, red, orange, blue tones, as well as neutral white and brown colors are ideal.
