Decorating a small kitchen is not an easy task.
But if you approach the issue of choosing finishing materials wisely, even a small room can be made cozy, bright and visually spacious.
And how to do this, you will now find out, says Yulia Tychino .
Considering that the kitchen is a room with high humidity, the wallpaper must meet the following criteria:
And these criteria are met by:
Washable wallpaper – it is not afraid of moisture and any stain, including grease, can be removed with a sponge and detergent.
Non-woven wallpaper is a fairly strong and durable material that is not afraid of wet cleaning and is also resistant to temperature changes and UV rays.
Vinyl – paper or non-woven fabric is used as a base for such wallpaper, onto which a layer of polyvinyl chloride is applied. They have good strength, durability, resistance to moisture, detergents and mechanical impact.
Fiberglass is the most durable finishing material, which is not afraid of either moisture or mechanical damage. They are usually produced in white and are used for painting.
No matter how beautiful paper wallpaper is, it is not the best option for the kitchen.
Firstly, they are flammable, secondly, they are afraid of moisture, which means that it will not be possible to remove the dirt. And thirdly, due to high humidity and temperature changes, they will soon begin to peel off.
For small rooms, it is worth choosing wallpaper in pastel and light tones - all shades of beige, turquoise, gray blue, ivory and baked milk. They visually expand the space and fill it with light.
As for the white color, it is not the best option for the reason that it looks uncomfortable and more reminiscent of a hospital ward.
To avoid this, the interior needs to be diversified with bright accents. But here it is important to know the measure to avoid variegation.
You should also avoid dark shades, as they visually make the room even smaller.
When choosing, try to give preference to plain wallpaper or wallpaper with an unobtrusive print or pattern. They should in no case be colorful - 2, maximum 3 shades.
If you like bright wallpaper, then as an option, you can make an accent on one of the walls by pasting it with wallpaper with a bright pattern or print, and use plain light wallpaper to decorate the rest of the walls.
When choosing a design, it is important to consider the height of the ceiling and the dimensions of the room.
For rooms with low ceilings, choose wallpaper with a vertical pattern, as it will visually make the ceiling higher, while horizontal patterns or stripes will visually expand the space.
