Despite the huge selection of wallpapers, it can sometimes be difficult to make a choice.

Especially when it comes to decorating a child's room.

After all, it is important here that the wallpaper combines practicality, durability and aesthetics, says Yulia Tychino .

Types of wallpaper and their features

Paper wallpaper - it is quite easy to work with them, and they are cheap, so the repair will not hit your budget too hard. But there is a significant drawback - they are not durable. They are easy to tear. They are afraid of moisture, and if a child gets them dirty, the wallpaper will have to be re-pasted.

Non-woven wallpaper - compared to paper wallpaper, they are more durable and long-lasting. They do not interfere with air circulation, maintaining an optimal microclimate in the room and are able to retain their original appearance for a long time.

Vinyl wallpaper. They are available in two versions - non-woven and paper-based. They have a more saturated color and interesting texture. But they do not allow air to pass through and are easily damaged, for example, during active games.

Fabric wallpaper - they are pleasant to the touch and environmentally friendly, as they do not contain harmful substances, making them perfect for decorating a child's room. But such wallpaper is quite expensive.

In addition, there may be difficulties in pasting, especially if you have not encountered such wallpaper before. Well, and, of course, they need care. Otherwise, they will quickly lose their original appearance and will look untidy.

As for other types of wallpaper, they are not the best option for decorating walls in a child’s room.

Deciding on the color scheme

Peace and comfort are important for a child. Therefore, when choosing wallpaper, it is advisable to give preference to the lightest and most delicate color scheme.

To decorate a nursery for a preschool or school-age child, it is recommended to add some bright colors. You can decorate one wall with wallpaper of a bright color palette or photo wallpaper, and choose calm, monochromatic tones for the decoration of other walls.

To decorate a teenager's room, you can choose both light and dark wallpaper. Here, everything depends on the child's personal preferences.

But in any case, the room should not have a large number of bright colors and variegation.

Also, for preschool children, a great solution would be thematic wallpaper with images of cartoon characters - cars, Shrek, Disney princesses, fairies, etc. Or you can cover the walls with plain wallpaper and decorate them with special stickers.

The advantage of this option is that children's interests change very quickly, and you can remove them at any time and stick new ones. They are easy to remove and do not leave marks on the wallpaper.

If these options seem too simple and boring to you, then you can choose the following options:

For young artists and drawing enthusiasts, coloring wallpapers are a great solution. These are single-color wallpapers with a special layer from which you can easily remove drawings made with pencils, markers or paints.

For school-age children, educational wallpapers with the alphabet or mathematical calculations are suitable.

And perhaps the most interesting options will be fluorescent wallpaper that glows in the dark. During the day, they are infected with sunlight, and at night they illuminate the room.
