Dog Shaking Ears: Reasons
For a dog, ears are not only an organ of hearing, but also a part of the body responsible for orientation in space and balance.
Therefore, it is important not to miss all the warning signs associated with them.
Reasons why a dog shakes its ears may include the following:
- foreign body that has entered;
- water from swimming or rain;
- parasites (as a rule, the shaking process is then accompanied by furious scratching of the ears);
- allergic reaction;
- infection, such as otitis externa or otitis media;
- ear hematoma formed after a blow.
So, if your pet twitches his ears from time to time, it may be normal.
However, if you notice that your pet is itching a lot, losing hair, and there are signs of injury or inflammation inside the ear, this is a reason to contact a specialist.
