The ears of any animal, including cats, are one of the main organs for orientation in space.
This is why it is so important that your pet’s ears are always in good condition.
Owners of furry predators often wonder how to properly clean a cat's ears and whether it is worth doing at all.
Let's start with the fact that dust and dirt often get into the cat's ears. To prevent dirt from getting into the inner ear, the animal's body begins to produce earwax.
Often the same function is performed by the hair growing from the ear, but in the case of sphinxes and other hairless cat breeds, additional sulfur production occurs.
Excess sulfur leads to the formation of sulfur plugs, which are a favorable environment for the development of pathogenic flora.
Therefore, it is best to arm yourself with cotton swabs, cotton pads and neutral ear treatment liquid. Do not use alcohol-containing solutions: it is better to replace them with warm water or chamomile decoction.
Only the visible part of the ear should be treated, for which it must be carefully turned towards you and its surface cleaned.
You should not use a cotton swab in a rotating motion, as this can cause injury to the cat.
If a plug has already formed in the ear, pour warm water into the ear, massage the ear a little, and then let the animal reflexively shake out the softened pieces of wax from there.
